Social Media – 3 Reasons Why It Can Help Your Business

Social Media is here to stay and the rate at which it’s growing and changing can make some businesses feel uncertain about jumping into the world of Social Media Marketing.  Existing channels like Facebook and Twitter are regularly making updates and improvements to their systems and the introduction of newer platforms like Pinterest and Google+ just confirm that not only is it here to stay, but social media is continuing to grow.

Many people are already using social media to successfully develop their business and marketing initiatives, and if you’re not already using social media in your business below are 3 reasons why you should be.

1. Free Word of Mouth Publicity

It is a commonly known fact that we consider reviews and recommendations before making a decision to buy, whether it’s an online or offline purchase.  Your online reputation can make or break that decision to buy.  Using social media to tell people about your products or services, giving out useful information and giving your customers the chance to comment on the posts can help establish your online presence.  If unsure about buying a product most people will ask friends if they have either bought the product or know anything about the company.  Before social media, that would have been a one to one request.   Since the advent of social media, people can not only ask hundreds of people at a time the same question, but can also let those hundreds of people know when they’ve found a good product, useful article of helpful company – free word of mouth publicity.

2. Gain Trust Through Better Business Service

People’s buying habits have changed.  Many no longer want the formal buyer-seller relationship but are looking for more informal but interactive business dealings.  By creating an atmosphere that allows prospective and previous buyers to voice their opinions or make suggestions, social media platforms can be used to share that information much wider than previously.  Sharing pictures, videos or just useful industry information can help gain the trust of your audience and make the conversion from lead to sale much easier.

3. Re-Inforce Your Online Presence and Reputation

Social Media allows you to collaborate across a number of channels and a company presence can be linked consistently across channels to improve visibility. Social media users can conduct substantial amounts of research in just a few clicks and a company image or good review popping up across various sites can improve credibility and reputation

If you’re convinced now that social media is the way to go, that’s great, but before you jump in, remember it’s important to have a social media strategy so you don’t lose your way.  Social Media Marketing will only work for you if you know what you want to get out of it.  If you’re not sure where to start or need some help contact us.
