A BIG thank you to all those who attended the launch of the Bristol Rugby Business Network on Wednesday 6th November.

It was a great turn out with nearly 100 rugby players and business owners alike in attendance.

And of course, thank you to Mercedes- Benz Bristol too who hosted the event- those cars were very well positioned!

Spurred on by the great prizes-a signed rugby ball and 2 Bristol Rugby Matchday Packages -donated by the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation there was great support of the evenings raffle. The grand total raised on the night was £204.50 which has gone directly to the foundation which supports the key fundamentals of a successful rugby union.

Simon Torr, Premier Choice Group, was the lucky winner of one of the Bristol Rugby Matchday Package, which involved spending the day as the club mascot;

“I was very surprised as I don’t usually win things like this.

“There was one thing I had my eye on, but it wasn’t in the draw- The Mercedes SLS AMG in the corner of the showroom at Mercedes Benz of Bristol- another day maybe!”

Simon’s continued generosity has meant that his decision has been to “ask the Bristol Rugby club audience” to nominate someone who will benefit from the package more because his children are now older.

“Part of my ethos in business is to give something back to my clients nominated charities, donating the prize back seemed like an ideal opportunity for an individual to benefit.

“With both my children now being adults I felt there must be a worthy child who loves the games who could have a special day”

There’s more to it than just this too. Part of the deal with the package is that 4 people can go to the Fullbacks Restaurant for a 3 course meal before kick off, you’ll get a Brizzley’s Club t-shirt, be pictured by the First XV players, have a run through the tunnel, and to top it all off, have you photograph taken with the Captain on the pitch.

The question is, do you know anyone who deserves a really special treat? Maybe someone who has gone through a tough time recently or done something special?

Simon Torr and Ben Breeze will select the winning nomination at the end of the month (December) Please send your nominations to Simon by emailing simontorr@pch.uk.com

And don’t forget to share your mascot photographs either- we’ll keep a look out across the channels.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event on 20th March 2014.

Charitable events don’t stop here either- are you up for a challenge?

On Saturday 31st May 2014, Break The Cycle will be making tracks to fundraise for the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation

The all day fundraising event has raised money to support Future Stars rugby and a multi-sport programme for over 15,000 young people throughout Bristol.

There’s just one catch which makes this a challenge- the event involves 101 miles of cycling!

Now in it’s fourth year, the event has grown considerably in 2013 which had over 170 cyclists getting in a spin. And next year they want to beat it!

This not only links business to charity but it will also be a lot of fun and is an opportunity to raise (and loose!) a few pounds along the way.

Whether you are new to cycling or are a regular rider, and whether you would like to support a local charity or looking for a corporate team building exercise, then this challenge is for you!
